Clark Fork River Delta Professional Review and Guide
"Sea kayakers and canoeists alike will enjoy this loop tour with its fascinating combination of flowing and still waters at the northeast end of Lake Pend Oreille. After surging out of Cabinet Gorge Dam, the river eventually braids into three branches called the North, Middle, and South forks.
The route described here has several shorter options or variations through these forks in an area informally managed as the Pend Oreille State Wildlife Management Area. Attractions include the numerous undeveloped islands, and coves and inlets left as havens for a wide range of wildlife—including deer, mink, ospreys, bald eagles, waterfowl, and numerous songbirds. Fall foliage is an attraction in itself."
