Cottonwood Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Campgrounds are not a major activity of the BLM, and most of their sites in Idaho are relatively plain, but Cottonwood is a sharp exception. A thorough renovation in 1998 created sites that are paved throughout, RV-friendly, and fully accessible, with a thoughtful mix of shade and sun. Individual campers are welcome, but Cottonwood is especially well set up for groups.

Added facilities include barbecue racks and a dump station. This is a rare BLM site with resident campground hosts (in the summer and early fall). And—oh, yes—this area is right on the Salmon River, with all the fishing opportunities that implies (especially for steelhead), and close by the highway for easy supply runs."
