Power Plant/Riverside Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"If you were visualizing a campground called Power Plant and expecting a well- manicured, easy- access campground, think again. Getting to these campgrounds constitutes a serious trek into the backcountry, but the rewards are many. The camping site is in a wooded and meadows area close to the Middle Fork of the Boise River, a great fishing area (especially for rainbow trout and whitefish), and close as well to hot springs and to the lively little community of Atlanta.

There are stories behind the real power plant after which this campground is named, too, because the dam on the river near Atlanta has been a power generator for decades. Watch for wildlife under the red fir and ponderosa pine. There is also another Atlanta- area campground called Riverside, where the same conditions generally apply."
