Spruce Tree Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Located mainly in a mountain meadow with forests all around, this campground is situated at the headwaters of the wild portion of St. Joe Wild and Scenic River—a terrific trout-fishing river—and the St. Joe River Trailhead.

It goes without saying that the countryside all around is some of the prettiest in the West. Three hours or more from the nearest incorporated city, you’re well out in the wilds here—and ordinarily far away from the crowds; Spruce Tree is the most remote yet generally accessible by road campsite in this region. And staying here is free."
