Squirrel Cache Trail

Athol, Idaho

Squirrel Cache Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Hike through mostly young to medium-age forest on a self-guided nature trail. This is a good hike on which to take small children as it’s fairly short and there are interesting trees and a rock formation.

Start the Squirrel Cache Trail by hiking southeast from the trailhead on a blocked but paved roadway. Quickly pass a trail junction; continue on the paved roadway, heading southeast. A trail shelter and sign on the right, 0.1 mile from the trailhead, mark Junction #55, where you leave the paved roadway. Turn right at the junction and head south on the well-maintained trail, through the forest of Douglas fir and grand fir."
