Highpoint Trail

Highpoint Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Hike to Highpoint Viewpoint overlooking Buttonhook Bay at the southwest end of spectacular Lake Pend Oreille. Watch for the many white-tailed deer that are common in this area.

Unlike most places where trails are numbered, at Farragut State Park most of the trail junctions are numbered and so marked on guideposts. These numbers correspond with the numbers on the Farragut State Park Trail Guide map. The 0.5-mile-long outer loop of this hike is very rough and steep. It contains one short scramble that may be quite difficult for many hikers. If this section seems to be too much for your party, return to Junction #49 and follow the southern side of the inner loop (part of the Bernard Peak / Scout Trail) back to the Highpoint Trailhead."
