"This 7.0-mile trail along the border of Indian Creek and the Cedar River became Iowa’s first National Recreation Trail in 1980. The Sac and Fox Trail is part of the Indian Creek Nature Center, a 210-acre natural area that features a variety of lowland habitats, including an ancient bog, a riparian forest, pine woods, and prairie alongside the Cedar River and Indian Creek. Constructed in 1975, the Sac and Fox Trail meanders beside Indian Creek, through forest and open terrain, and serves as the central connecting line to about 4 miles of trails within the Cedar Greenbelt Trail system, a series of small, narrow, sometimes steep and winding trails that are best explored on foot. Along your walk you can see woodland wildflowers, tree frogs and toads, deer and fox." Read more
