Jacob Krumm Prairie Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"When Jacob Krumm bequeathed his farm to the Jasper County Conservation Board, he did so with the express intention that it become a wildlife refuge. The board followed through, and reconstruction efforts have jump-started the improving health of prairie, wetland, savanna, and forest.
Today, muskrats build dens on the site of a former hog lot, and fish use junked cars at the bottom of ponds as breeding habitat. Prairie is reseeded both by human hand and from the railroad right-of-way seedbank."
