Thornburg Canyon Trail Professional Review and Guide

"A seldom-trodden path leads into Mokelumne Wilderness and up Thornburg Canyon through quiet forest for quite a distance before a sweeping vista unfolds of two of the area’s most prominent peaks.

The trip is an excellent all-day journey for hikers in reasonable shape, and backpackers who don’t mind primitive camping conditions should appreciate the abundant solitude. Peak baggers can accept the additional challenge of scaling Jeff Davis or Markleeville peaks, but if climbing one of these peaks is the primary goal, following a route from Blue Lakes Road would be considerably shorter."
