It is 12.1 miles long and begins at 6,760 feet altitude. Traveling the entire trail is 24.4 miles with a total elevation gain of 5,111 feet. The Last Chance Mine (elevation 8,809 feet), War Eagle Mine (elevation 8,550 feet), and San Francisco Mine (elevation 7,369 feet) quarries can be seen along the trail.
