Pu’uka’ohelo–Berry Flat Trail

Pu’uka’ohelo–Berry Flat Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This is a cool and lovely, often misty, walk among a crazy mixture of tropical flowers, California redwoods, Japanese cedars, and other surprises. Many were planted as experimental forests in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Part of the route is along dirt (mud) road winding through the back lanes of down-home Hawaii. It is described beginning at Koke’e State Park Headquarters because not only is the road a beautiful walk in itself, it is not passable by ordinary passenger cars even when dry, and when wet is tricky even for four-wheel-drive vehicles."
