First let me specify that reaching the trail is much easier than the guide books or even trails.com let you think.. the map will only confuse you... AFTER YOU REACH THE ABANDONNED CAR, KEEP FOLLOWING THE DIRT ROAD, THE GATE WITH NO ENTRANCE WILL BE ON YOUR LEFT, YOU GO RIGHT AND KEEP GOING.. Very easy, it took us 30 minutes of wandering and wondering to figure it out, since we were following the map of the e-trail.
The trail is beautiful, with great sceneries, you are walking basically along the stream all the time, and you will have to cross it 4 times, twice on the SWINGING Bridges (ugly themselves, the crossing is fun) and twice through the stream ( shallow).. At the end you can swim in the small pond created by the dam and an affluent river, the water is clean and fresh (do NOT DRINK TROPICAL FRESH WATER, (Giardia and Cryptosporidium). The way back is much faster.. The hike is EASY, no uphill.. I will rate it as beginner.
YOU WILL LOVE IT... But if you are fitter and really in good shape go for the Wailea Ridge... (read my review over there)..
