Papaa Bay

Papaa Bay Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Papaa Bay is a small coral-lined bay tucked into the high sea cliffs northwest of Anahola. Shallow reefs fringe the beautiful crescent-shaped beach. An access road leads to the top of the 160-foot sea cliffs above Papaa Bay, where this trail descends off the bluffs to the tropical shoreline at the south end of the bay.

Walk through the trailhead gate, and bear left on the red dirt trail. Follow the hilltop toward the ocean. At the edge of the bluffs, curve right and begin the descent on the rough unpaved road into the ravine. The trail drops onto the sand at the mouth of the ravine. To the right, follow the south edge of the isolated bay along the narrow, forest-lined strand. Views extend south to Kahala Point by Anahola Bay. To the left, the path crosses lava rocks jutting out to sea."
