Keahua Arboretum and Opaekaa Falls Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The 30-acre Keahua Arboretum is located in the mountains above Wailua. This quiet refuge includes expansive open lawns with sheltered picnic areas surrounded by mountains and lush forests.

The arboretum is divided into two areas by Keahua Stream, which runs through the middle of the arboretum. The bubbling stream features two large swimming holes. Trails follow along the water on both sides of the stream."

"This lovely, tranquil spot is perfect for a quiet stroll, a picnic, and a dip in a stream in the cooler uplands above Lihue. It was originally planned as an outdoor nature classroom by the Kaua’i forestry department, planted with scattered clumps of native and introduced trees that attract a variety of birds. It is near the trailheads for two popular trails, the easy and very popular Kuilau Ridge Trail and the long and rigorous Powerline Trail."

Not really a trail but a small park. The most fun is crossing the low water crossing. Look closely for the painted gum trees. It is a nice place for a picnic.
