Poipu Beach Park and tidepools

Poipu Beach Park and tidepools Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is more than a hike—it is an excellent place to spend the day exploring, enjoying water sports and sunbathing. Poipu is located on the southernmost point in Kauai. The popular crescent-shaped beach park is protected by off-shore reefs between two rocky points.

The park sits in a small bay with grassy knolls and sandy beaches. To the east, lava formations house tidepools containing a variety of small fish, crabs and hermit crabs. Ocean waves crash against the cliffs and blowholes spout like geysers."

Unfortunately, we missed the trailhead to this easy walk. It is well masked by a relatively small tourist trap of t-shirt shops overlooking the blowhole. We didn’t actively look for the trailhead since we did not have a lot of time. The blowhole was cool to watch. Being on the water (via the trail) would probably be pretty cool too…
