Mahaulepu Beach to Kawelikoa Point

Mahaulepu Beach to Kawelikoa Point Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The trail from Mahaulepu Beach follows isolated 100-foot cliffs to Kawelikoa Point, passing weather-sculpted rock formations, sharp pinnacles, coves and caves, blowholes, natural bridges and awesome coastal views. The views extend across the high mountain ridges of the Haupu (Hoary Head) Range and up the scalloped coastline.

The well-defined path leads through a lush forest to the sandy, tree-lined beach. To the right, the steep cliffs of Punahoa Point extend out into the sea. At the base of the cliffs are tidepools. Paths lead up the cliffs to scenic overlooks. To the other side of Mahaulepu Beach, follow the shoreline between the ocean and the trees."

This is a great family trail. It follows the ocean and the path is easy to walk.

This walk along the seashore was awesome. Unfortunately, we only had about an hour but you could tell the trail got better the father out you walked. If I remember correctly, I think there is a major hotel at Mahaulepu Beach. The walk to Kamala Point first went through some trees but then it went along the cliffs. Sandy trail most of the way. Cool volcano-like rocks at the point. Looking inland you saw a huge golf course with players riding around in golf carts, but don’t let that deter you. As you enter the Kawailoa Bay, most of the tourist-bus travelers have gone back to the trailhead. So you have the trail to yourself from here to Kawelikoa Point. Landscape photographs are endless. The sunset is spectacular from here. Great place to get away from the hoards of tourists around Poipu.
