Kukuiolono Park

Kukuiolono Park Professional Review and Guide

"This hike isn’t exactly a wilderness experience, but there isn’t much wilderness left in the golf course/resort region of Kaua’i. You can get a nice hike in anyway, circling two jogging paths of about 0.5-mile each, visiting a tiny Japanese garden, then following a walkway that goes right through the middle of the golf course to a pavilion on a hill overlooking the ocean.

The first loop, south of the access road, begins at the parking lot, heading west (counterclockwise) on a wide shady path under ironwood, Brazilian pepper, and eucalyptus trees. It makes an irregular oval, rising and falling gently and returns to the parking area. The second loop begins right across the road from the first at a sign prohibiting horses and motor vehicles. You will also see another path going off to the left (east). This second circuit is a little shorter than the first one, but maybe more interesting."
