Kapa’a Shoreline Trail

Kapa’a Shoreline Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This hike follows a section of the new Ke Ala Hele Makalae (The Path that Goes by the Coast) hiking/biking route which, when completed, will run all the way from Lihue to Anahola, halfway up Kauai’s eastern coast. It is so new that some sections have not been opened, but the part described here is especially rewarding and is already getting lots of use. It is smoothly paved—even wheelchair-accessible—and follows closely along the shoreline past some of Kauai’s finest public beaches and windblown sea cliffs.

Handsome iron railings decorated with sugarcane and pineapple motifs line the exposed sections of trail, as well as the bridges that cross several canals and streams that would make it otherwise impossible to proceed very far this close to the shore. You can go as long as you like."
