Great hike through the pines and then out into the sunshine. It is very up and down but that's what makes it so interesting.

This is a great day hiking trail to get a wonderful view of Honolulu and the interior of Diamond Head. Trail is well kept and in pretty good condition. It can be hiked in a morning or afternoon easily. Bring a picnic lunch and either eat in the State Park or at the last overlook. This overlook has the best view, don't turn back too soon. I wouldn't advise this trail after a significant amount of rain unless you are an avid hiker. The is no water on the trail, but plenty of shade. You'll hike to the smell of cinnamon and the flowers that line the trail. A perfect get-away from the touristy Honolulu. Enjoy!

We liked this one. Great views. A few challenges, but nothing too difficult.

Do not start this hike from the trail head at Dole St. Please start your hike from Wa'ahila State Park about 1.5 miles up St. Louis Heights. The upper Wa'ahila ridge (above the park) is breath taking, with many scenic lookouts. The lower Wa'ahila ridge (bellow the park) is dry, rocky and steep. Not suitable for hiking. Plus the lower ridge is used by the local mountain bikers as a downhill course. If you venture to the lower trails, be on the look out for bikes. But it's best to hike the upper trails where there are no bikes.
