Puu Pia Trail

Puu Pia Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Puu Pia is an 880-foot mountain that sits in a scenic cirque in Manoa Valley, surrounded by the Honolulu Watershed Forest Reserve. At the summit are sweeping panoramic vistas—from the steep rainforests of the Koolau Range to Waikiki, the blue Pacific and the volcanic profile of Diamond Head. The trail follows a forested path, climbs the valley to a ridge and follows the ridge to the summit of Puu Pia.

The trail begins as an extension of Alani Drive. Head north on the multi-home driveway at 3689 Alani Drive to the signed trailhead. Enter the jungle path and head uphill 0.2 miles to a trail junction and shelter on a grassy flat. The Kolowalu Trail bears right and climbs a steep narrow ridge, connecting with the Waahila Ridge Trail (Hike 10). Stay left on the Puu Pia Trail, steadily climbing up the damp, shady valley along the right side of a streambed."
