Rainbow Falls Trail

Rainbow Falls Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Rainbow Falls is a broad, beautiful waterfall on the Wailuku River near the northern outskirts of Hilo. The falls are so named because you’ll often see rainbows in the mist that rises from where the falling water strikes the large pool. (This viewpoint does not offer access to the river or to the falls, so don’t plan on a swim.)

Rainbow Falls is part of Wailuku River State Park. Here at Rainbow Falls, the park provides a lush tropical scene for visitors’ enjoyment: tall mango trees draped in philodendron; kukui; Aftrican tulip trees; banana plants; and clumps of split-leaf philodendron. You need do no more than walk across the parking lot to the railings in order to enjoy a fine view of impressive Rainbow Falls."
