Puako Petroglyphs Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"A large group of petroglyphs lies at the end of a short trail under kiawe trees; it’s part of one of the most extensive petroglyph fields in the archipelago. The trail, though short, is uneven and rocky. A few petroglyphs have been set up near the start of the trail for the enjoyment of those who cannot walk the entire trail. Just a few steps away, and thus also near the start, other petroglyphs have been especially set up so that you can make rubbings of them (according to the sign).
The first segment of your short trail is paved, and in a few steps you’ll find the petroglyph viewing area set up for the enjoyment of those who cannot walk the whole trail. Because the petroglyphs are raised for easy viewing and are widely separated, perhaps to let people whose mobility is limited get around them, they are ideally placed for photograph-taking. This is the place to get your camera out and start snapping away!"
