Panaewa Rainforest Zoo Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Peacocks and lemurs and tigers, oh my! Not to mention the many other animals and marked plants. The Panaewa (pa-na-ay-va) Rainforest Zoo is fun no matter what the weather is. It’s definitely a good family trip. Even if caged animals bother you, consider this trip for the botanical interest. There are dozens of interesting plants on the grounds, and many are identified for you. Zoo hours are 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.; it’s closed only on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Admission to the zoo is free, but voluntary contributions are encouraged. There are plenty of shady picnic tables, so bring your lunch and enjoy it here. Just inside the zoo entrance, you’ll find a little gift shop, some information signs, and a giant version of one of those charity coin-collectors that make the coin do some spinning before it vanishes forever into the black hole of the collection box."
