Lapakahi State Historical Park Trail

Lapakahi State Historical Park Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Thanks to the brochure provided at the park’s entrance, you can enter an old Hawaiian village established some 600 years ago, walk through it, and, in your imagination, see its inhabitants going about their daily lives before Captain Cook arrived in 1778.

Caution: Lapakahi State Historical Park is supposedly open daily from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and staff are supposed to be on duty to explain the exhibits. However, it may be open but unstaffed and with no brochures available, or it may be closed for no apparent reason. Call ahead to be sure it’s open (808-889-5566) and staffed in order to get the most out of your visit."

We like to hike but this trail loop is not really much of a hike. Pick-up a pamphlet at the Check-in hut because it has a numbered route and tells you what you are seeing. You can stroll this entire trail and stop and read the signs in less than one hour. Pretty views of the ocean and possibly whales.
