Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Puu O Mahuka Heiau is the largest and oldest heiau (place of worship) on Oahu. The split-level temple with terraced walls consists of three adjoining stone structures.

The temple is poised on the 250-foot cliffs above Waimea Bay, offering sweeping vistas of the scalloped north shore and Waimea Valley. The ancient temple served as a heiau of human sacrifice. Rocks outline a path that circles the 5.7-acre national historic landmark."
