Oconee River

Oconee River Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This section of the Oconee is surprisingly wild and remote. A dam must be portaged a little less than 2.0 miles in—a carry-around that separates you from the few boaters who float this Piedmont gem.

Beyond the dam, surprisingly swift waters travel a thickly wooded, wildlife-rich corridor. Give all day for this trip, or consider camping in the Oconee National Forest, which borders the river downstream. This surprisingly wild and remote section of the Oconee includes a dam portage."
