Ramrock Mountain Trail

Ramrock Mountain Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The walk to Ramrock Mountain is an in-and-out hike ideal for day-trippers, but it can also be done as an easy overnight backpacking trip.

The hike begins on Route 60 at Woody Gap and follows the white blazes of the Appalachian Trail all the way to the rock outcropping that marks Ramrock Mountain (3200 feet). From the vista, the start of the Appalachian Trail is roughly 20 trail miles to the west at Springer Mountain."

A nice trail to kill a couple of hours. Restroom at the parking area. The trail is pretty rocky, so you need to watch your footing. Beautiful, with a great view of the valley below. Trees and flowers are just starting to bud. The south side of the trail had a recent fire, so much of the underbrush was gone.

A good trail for a couple hours of time out in the woods. I took my eight year old with me and she enjoyed it only getting a little tired toward the end. There is a decent view at the top of Ramrock. Somewhat busy trail.
