"Have you ridden the Silver Comet Trail? It is a common question among cyclists because if you have not tried the Silver Comet Trail, you’re missing a great ride. The Silver Comet Trail is a 12- foot-wide, paved bike and pedestrian trail built primarily on an abandoned rail corridor. It runs through the suburban and rural areas of Cobb, Paulding, and Polk Counties and is close to the Atlanta metro area, making it ideal for routine cycling fun for those living in Georgia’s capitol city. Currently, 57.5 miles are completed, and a section from Rockmart to Cedartown is in the planning/ construction phase, with final completion due in 2009 with 61.5 miles of total trail. Highlights of the trail are the Pumpkinvine Creek Trestle, The Brushy Mountain Tunnel, and The Willow Springs Road Wooden Trestle. The trail also travels through the beautiful and scenic Paulding Wildlife Management Area. If you haven’t tried the Silver Comet, why not go for it? Although it is listed as a challenge ride due to total distance, the Silver Comet Trail is suitable for all skill level riders when ridden for short distances." Read more

This trail is a nicely paved area for biking with minimal difficulty. It has places to rest and use the bathroom. It does have a lot of crossings at stop lights when you start at the Floyd road drop off but in Rockmart not as many. Overall a great scenic route to ride.

The trail was beautiful. I have to say I loved the trail across the street from the parking lot more. There was a small stream with a very old bridge (which was closed) our group just walked down a small hill and across the stream. The trail was very small and sometimes slippery in some places due to the fact you were walking across smooth rocks. At the end of the trail we watched people jumping off the waterfalls into the water. This trail is very secluded and a MUST see.
