Wassaw Island via Wilmington River Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Houses, grasses, and shell bars of Wilmington Island are visible across the river from the put-in. Enter the grassy area in the water and turn right, immediately passing under the bridge of a government station.
Just ahead to your right is “The Landings” Marina. As you continue down the Wilmington River, a few houses are visible off to your right. Hug the right shoreline, which is alternately shell bar and sea grasses. Shorebirds will be flitting on the shell bars; wading birds will be seen as well. Civilization begins to fade behind you, and ahead lies nothing but water, grass, and islands in a wide-open landscape."
