Buzzard Roost Trail

Buzzard Roost Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Pine Mountain Trail is a 23-mile footpath that crosses and follows Pine Mountain Ridge in west-central Georgia. The trail is inside Franklin Delano Roosevelt State Park, close to Calloway Gardens, and popular with people from all over the state. Much of the land in the park once belonged to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, whose farm was located near the present site of WJSP-TV.

Today, volunteers from the Pine Mountain Trail Association maintain the path, which includes many points of interest and very few steep inclines. The trail was first developed in 1975 and now is used by over 50,000 hikers and backpackers each year."

Hiked most of these trails November & December of 2009. This is a great park with a wonderful and varied trail system. Very well marked and enough elevation change to keep it interesting. You can find my hike videos of this park on Youtube under username Woodenarrows

Great trails on the PMT, well marked and easy to follow trail markers. No one on the trials over a holiday weekend, so if you are looking for an adventure with few poeple around this may be a good time of the year for you to go for a nice hike.
