Flint River at Montezuma Bluffs

Flint River at Montezuma Bluffs Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The put-in is located at the last ferry operated on the Flint River. Known by various names, it ran twenty-four hours a day until 1988, when a bridge was built over the Flint just downstream of the put-in. Concrete landings, vestiges of the old ferry, rise from both banks.

Here the Flint River is just 120 feet wide and bordered by bluffs running about 15 feet high on one side. The opposite bank is lower and commonly graced with river birch and willows, which often grow to the river’s edge and drape the water. Sycamores and tupelo trees have a presence as well."
