Muckalee Creek

Muckalee Creek Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Muckalee Creek is a major tributary of the Flint River. It starts in Marion County, just south of the town of Buena Vista, where its headwaters are impounded as Walker Williams Lake. The stream then heads southeasterly through Schley County and into Sumter County, where the waters of Little Muckalee Creek add to the flow. Here Muckalee Creek is a swampier stream while coursing along the west side of Americus.

More tributaries add to the flow as it enters Lee County. Little Muckaloochee Creek comes in a few miles above where this paddle begins. Below the Highway 32 bridge the creek flows swiftly and offers several rocky rapids as it makes its final descent toward the Flint River. By the way, Muckalee Creek drops more than 400 feet from its headwaters to its end."
