We have hiked this trail several time and always clockwise. Next time will go counter clockwise. Nice with one long climb. Have seen turkeys both times, the swamp area was dry. Bathrooms and a large picnic area at the start, can be quite busy in the picnic area after church. This is very hot in the summer as there are no breezes in the pocket, so carry plenty of water, and have a nice picnic after the hike.

Beautiful trail in the springtime. I camped above Pocket Falls in a grassy clearing. The trail is well marked and wide, as it is also a horseback trail up the side of Crockford-Pigeon Mountain. The portion of the Pocket Loop on top of the mtn. is also utilized by mtn. bikers... although I never saw a horse or bicycle either day. The S. Pocket Loop trail is rugged, ascending from about 900' to 2330' in 3 miles. Still, it was a good hike. Great weather, secluded campsite, good food, no bugs... Sweet!

Good trail for the family if you're bored on Saturday or Sunday afternoon and are looking for something fun to do.
