Mulberry River

Mulberry River Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Mulberry River is a small stream that ?ows into the Middle Oconee River northwest of Athens. Originating in Hall County, the river ?ows to the southwest, dividing Jackson and Barrow Counties.

The Mulberry’s gradient is gentle and there are no signi?cant
rapids. The scenery is not dramatic, but it is pleasing to the eye. Hardwood forests alternate with pastures that at times are completely devoid of buffer protection—no trees or bushes
separate the river from the pastures."

Mulberry is deep and slow. Easy to kayak but prepare to be on the river for a while. Put in at 53 and be prepared to hit a dam.
