Unicoi State Park: Bottoms Loop Trail and Lake Loop Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The Bottoms Loop Trail takes a quiet turn through rhododendron thickets, large hardwoods, and pines to visit rippling Smith Creek and an idyllic frog pond. Along the trail interpretive signs highlight its microhabitats and identify various tree species. From Bottoms Loop, you can cross GA Highway 356 to stroll around Unicoi Lake.
Six fishing piers dot the lakeshore, though only two were occupied with folks casting their lines to reel in catfish and bream when I scouted this area. On the northwest shore, the lakeside beach was deserted, but I could imagine that it must be lively on a summer afternoon with swimmers splashing about and laughter carrying across the lake."
