Unicoi Lake / Smith Creek (Unicoi State Park) Professional Review and Guide
"The waters of Unicoi State Park offer a variety of fishing opportunities both for warm-and cold-water species. Though not quite in the Blue Ridge Mountains, 1,081-acre Unicoi State Park has a definite mountain feel, with surrounding ridges, tumbling waterfalls, and the nearby alpine village of Helen. There are angling opportunities on both the 44-acre Unicoi Lake and roughly 2 miles of Smith Creek, a designated trout stream.
Unicoi State Park is one of the most popular parks in Georgia. A variety of recreational opportunities for the whole family are available either in the park or only a short distance away. Unicoi sees heavy use for most of the year, but during the brief days of the fall leaf season, thousands of people flock to Helen and the surrounding area to see the fantastic fall colors. Key species: rainbow trout, largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish."
