    Mountaintown Creek Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Located west of Ellijay, Mountaintown Creek is a delightfully lively mountain stream that moves at a fast clip between rapids that build in frequency and intensity but don’t exceed Class II dif? culty. While the creek itself is a joy, the streamside scenery has become dominated by residential housing.

There are no lawns, but it is common to see buffers removed
in order to provide homeowners with unobstructed views of the river—and paddlers with an unobstructed view of the houses. Most of the development is on river left; undisturbed forest
on river right reminds you of what Mountaintown Creek used to be. Paddling Mountaintown Creek commits you to an additional section of easy whitewater on the wide Coosawattee and a
paddle down the still waters of Carters Lake to reach the nearest take-out point."
