Lake Sinclair Beach Campground

Lake Sinclair Beach Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is the only Forest Service campground on Lake Sinclair. If Lake Sinclair Beach were private land, it would go for big bucks.

The demand for waterfront housing on the lakes outside of greater Atlanta has made that second home a pipe dream for many. There is a solution—if you have a tent. Come and enjoy Lake Sinclair at this fine Forest Service campground that is much, much cheaper than buying a lake-front lot."

This is a relatively small National Forest Service Campground (less than 50 sites) that is a great spot to get away from it all and rough it in the great outdoors. They only have a few RV sites – most of the spots are for tent camping. It is very affordable – just $9 per night for sites with no hookups. Sites that have electricity and water hookups go for $15 per night. There are bath houses in the campground. There is a boat ramp and boat docks, plus a swimming beach, a hiking trail (easy; under 2 miles) great picnicking spots, and a playground. Fishing is plentiful – the lake is known for catfish, crappie, largemouth bass and more. Boats with motors are allowed on the lake, as is skiing.

I really like these campgrounds, I have been there twice this season already to test out new gear for more primitive backpacking in the near future. Well maintained campgrounds, plenty of tent sites, most of which are on or near the lake.
