Three relatively short trails, the Spring Trail, Mountain Laurel Loop, and Creek Trail, explore the western slopes of the Amicalola Creek watershed. While these paths are popular, they might not be as crowded as the uber-popular Base of Falls Trail. From the upper parking area, you begin on the Spring Trail, descending moderately to steeply on a ridge covered with hardwoods. This path intersects the Mountain Laurel Loop, which winds through the twisted trunks of high laurel and drops to the reflection pool where Amicalola Falls is visible to the distant northeast. Backtracking along the Mountain Laurel Loop, you reach the short Creek Trail, which rolls through thick foliage just above Amicalola Creek and ends at the Appalachian Trail parking area. From the parking area, walk back up the Creek Trail to turn west and finish the Mountain Laurel Loop, climbing steeply back to the upper parking area.
