Six Gaps Classic Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Most serious road bicyclists would rate the Six Gaps ride as the most demanding route in Georgia. Surprisingly, it is probably also the most popular route in the state. Although the virtues of “demanding” and “popular” might seem conflicting, when you consider that this route attracts the most skilled and advanced riders into the beautiful North Georgia Mountains, the analogy makes perfect sense!
This very challenging ride, suitable for advanced to expert level riders, begins in Dahlonega, Georgia, the site of Georgia’s Pioneer Gold Rush in 1828; takes you up and down six of the steepest climbs in the North Georgia Mountains with more than 10,700 feet of vertical climbing; and crosses the Appalachian Trail three times. Each September, the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Six Gap Century and Three Gap Fifty bike ride, which has become the premier cycling event in north Georgia."
