Detailed Trail Descriptions from Our Guidebooks

"Sawnee Mountain Preserve’s Mountainside Trail system opened in 2016 on land acquired by Forsyth County in the mid-2000s. While the trails in this section do not offer panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and Appalachian Mountain foothills, they provide a scenic hike through a southern oak and hickory forest. The Mountainside Trails system is composed of two connected loops formed by the Ridgeline, Mountainside, and Hilltop Trails." Read more
"Set on 963 acres just north of Cumming, the Sawnee Mountain Preserve provides a passive greenspace with picnic shelters, a playground, a comfort station, an outdoor amphitheater, a visitor center, and a network of foot trails along the slopes of 1,963-foot-high Sawnee Mountain. The Forsyth County Park opened to hikers in 2005. Sawnee Mountain Preserve offers more than 11 miles of trails along slopes and over a mountain summit. The Visitor Center opened at the preserve’s northern entrance in 2008. The Indian Seats Trail system follows the slopes of Sawnee Mountain to Indian Seats, a rock outcrop at the summit, on a series of connecting loops." Read more

A fun hike with the kids. Enough incline to make it exercise, but not so strenuous that the kids wanted to quit.
