Springer Mountain and Three Forks Loop

Springer Mountain and Three Forks Loop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This loop hike uses the A.T. and Benton MacKaye Trail (BMT) figure eight between Springer Mountain and Three Forks. The hike will take you to two viewpoints along Springer Mountain, which is the southern terminus of both the A.T. and the BMT.

The Benton MacKaye Trail is named for the man who provided the inspiration for the A.T. in a 1921 article for the Journal of the American Institute of Architects. The BMT follows the more westerly route first proposed for the A.T. and was created to take some of the hiking pressure off the oft-hiked A.T. in Georgia."
