Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This short hike leads to the southern terminus of the A.T. A bronze plaque set into a rock face lies just past the southernmost white blaze. There is a fine view of the Blue Ridge range from Rich Mountain to the northwest, and the Cohuttas beyond, from this open rock ledge.

Prior to 1958, the southern terminus of the Trail had been on Mount Oglethorpe. Real estate development in the area led the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club to move the terminus to this more remote mountain within the bounds of the Chattahoochee National Forest."
