McKaskey Creek Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Allatoona Lake is a large impoundment northwest of Atlanta that provides drinking water for much of the metro area. It is also a popular recreation destination for Atlantans. Despite the millions in the greater area of Georgia’s capital city, there is generally enough water left over for them to fish, swim, and cool off during the summer.

McKaskey Creek Campground, on a narrow arm of the lake’s northwest corner, is the best destination for tent campers
wishing to enjoy Lake Allatoona. It is relatively quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of larger, wider portions of Allatoona."

Beautiful lake with great campsites...lots of trails, some easy, some harder. Usually has water but none this weekend some take some in case. Long (20miles) bumpy gravel road but once you get there it is well worth it. Lake is swimmable...plenty of fallen timber to burn. Kid friendly.
