Wolf Laurel Top Mountain Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This hike features excellent views from the summits of Cowrock Mountain and Wolf Laurel Top. There is a spectacular view from an open rock face atop Wolf Laurel Top. This entire hike is in the Raven Cliffs Wilderness.
From the trailhead in Tesnatee Gap (Tesnatee means “wild turkey” in Cherokee, and it is not uncommon to see them in the North Georgia woods), follow the A.T. south and begin the steady, sometimes steep, ascent of Cowrock Mountain. At mile 1.0, reach the summit of Cowrock Mountain (elevation 3,842'). There are a couple of good viewpoints from the mountain. One is from the rocks just before the Trail reaches the summit. The other is to the left of the Trail just after the summit. The distinctive rock face of Yonah Mountain can be seen to the southwest, as can Brasstown Bald, the state’s highest mountain (elevation 4,783'), to the north."
