Altamaha River near Baxley

Altamaha River near Baxley Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Grays Landing has a small park and quality boat ramp. The mighty Altamaha is 300 feet wide plus at this point. Sandbars stretch out in front of you at low water. The water is surprisingly clear for a huge Coastal Plain river that drains two massive Piedmont waterways—the Ocmulgee and the Oconee.

The confluence of the Ocmulgee and Oconee, where the Altamaha is born, is just a few miles upstream from Grays Landing, as the South Georgia product flows southeasterly for 137 miles to meet the Atlantic Ocean near the town of Darien."
