Stone Mountain Park: Walk-Up Trail Professional Review and Guide
"From the summit of Stone Mountain you can see 60 miles in every direction, and on fair-weather days, throngs of people hike to the top via the Walk-Up Trail, which climbs about 650 feet in elevation. From the base to the summit, the trail follows wide, clear expanses of granite bordered by a forest of mostly oaks and pines.
Mostly moderate, with short, steep sections near the top, the trail is not difficult if you are fit, and doable for most others. Once you’ve reached the top and soaked in the view, you can visit the building that serves the Skylift gondola and has good interpretive displays detailing the wildlife and plants in the area. Walk outside the south side of the building onto the balcony for a 180-degree view of the landscape from east to west."
