Sprewell Bluff Outdoor Recreation Area: The Natural Dam Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Flint River is a broad, beautiful thing as it flows between high rocky bluffs in Sprewell Bluff Outdoor Recreation Area. Gazing at the Flint from an overlook along the Sprewell Bluff Trail, it’s hard to imagine that this natural wonder begins as groundwater beneath Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

But once the Flint leaves the city to course through the Georgia Piedmont, it turns wild and flows unimpeded for more than 200 miles. The Natural Dam trail is named for a shelf of quartzite rock that spans the Flint River."
