Panola Mountain State Park: Microwatershed, Rock Outcrop, and Fitness Trails Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Beginning in the visitors center, you might want to spend some time viewing the displays that highlight the plants and animals found on Panola Mountain. The forest around the visitors center is a mixture of mockernut hickory trees, black cherry trees, and loblolly pines, and markers identify the different species.
The hike detailed here begins on the Microwatershed Trail, which roams through maples, sweetgum trees, and sassafras trees on its way to a creek bottom. After returning to the visitors center, you take the Rock Outcrop Trail to slabs of exposed granite. One unusual aspect of the park is its Fitness Trail, which lies south of the visitors center. A sort of a gym set completely in the woods, this trail sports a series of exercise stations designed to improve strength, balance, and flexibility."
