Set aside by the University of Georgia in 1968, the 313-acre gardens complex includes the glass-enclosed Conservatory and Visitor Center, stone and timber Day Chapel, the Callaway classroom building, and the Garden Club of Georgia headquarters. In addition to paths through specialty gardens of native and exotic plants and herbs, the Botanical Garden features more than 5 miles of trails in the surrounding forests, wetlands, and floodplains of the Middle Oconee River.
